Ads officially coming to Instagram

Instagram announced on Thursday that ads are finally coming to the social network. Facebook bought the site at $1 billion in April 2012 when the deal was announced, Many analysts are still wondering how Facebook would turn a profit on the acquisition and the  answer could be in the ads.

Last Thursday, Instagram revealed that the monetization of the site will be rolled out in bits. There will be “a focus on delivering a small number of beautiful, high-quality photos and videos from a handful of brands that are already great members of the Instagram community.” If an Instagram user sees an ad they don’t like, the ad can be hidden and feedback sent explaining why the user didn’t like the ads.

We will be waiting to hear the reactions of the users, hopefully the ads wont hinder the user experience that instagram has been praised for.
