Apple Buys Swedish Startup AlgoTrim

Three years after buying computer vision-company Polar Rose, Apple inc. has acquired another start-up in southern Sweden. Rapidus has today reveal that the technology giant has bought AlgoTrim, is a software developer specialized in compression algorithms for mobile phones.

AlgoTrim has also developed algorithms for lossless compression of processing instructions in operating systems and applications. Apart from the speeding up processing, this compression reduces the use of flash memory in for exampel RISC-processors.
