Lighter and smaller than the previous G2, the new Panasonic Lumix G3 Micro Four Thirds camera is just what we expected to come after its predecessors the G1 and G2. It offers some new and exciting features like the pinpoint AF- that automatically zooms in on a point to make focus point selection and confirmation easier. Another upgrade from the G2 is the massive 16.0 megapixel making it one of the first Micro Four Third model to step up from 12 MP.
In addition to the AF mode, the G3 offer full 1920x1080 High Definition movies at 60/50 frames per second in AVCHD as well as the 1280x720 offered in the previous G2. Stereo sound is also captured during video recording with an option to fit external stereo microphone.
